Finding Your Fit

Advance your sewing knowledge and skill in this garment construction class

  • Learn how to follow a more complicated pattern, which may include darts, princess seams, set in sleeves, zippers, and/or buttonholes
  • Learn how to take your measurements, and use them to make simple alterations to your pattern
  • Make a muslin (practice garment), to help you see what alterations need to be made
  • Learn adjustment strategies, to help you get that perfect fit, including slash & pivot, bust adjustments, sway back, and pattern grading
  • Finally finish that garment that you've been too apprehensive to start, with the guidance of an experienced sewist

This is a Tester Class which means we are offering it at a reduced price until we get some of the "kinks" worked out (figuring out the flow of the class, determining how much time is needed to teach skills, getting feedback on how to improve). We want to give our students the best experience possible, and you can help by participating in tester classes.

This is an intermediate class, and can be a beginner intermediate or advanced intermediate depending on the pattern you pick!

What you need: A pattern and all the fabric/notions required to complete it, plus extra fabric (similar weight and drape to your good fabric but cheaper) for your muslin. All equipment is provided in the studio

Dates: Thursdays 7:15-9:15 pm, Sept 20 - Nov 8, 2018

Fees (tester price): $150
