Finding Your Fit

Advance your sewing knowledge and skill in this 5 week garment construction class

  • Learn how to take proper measurements, and use them to make alterations to your pattern
  • Make a muslin (practice garment), to help you see what alterations need to be made
  • Learn adjustment strategies, to help you get that perfect fit, including slash & pivot, bust adjustments, sway back, and pattern grading
  • Finally finish with a pattern and garment that fits you properly, with the guidance of an experienced teacher
  • Students will also receive a %15 discount during the course for our Sewing Skills Workshop to provide more time to work on projects.
  • This class has a maximum of 3 students for more individualised instruction and personal experience.

This is an intermediate class, students need to know how to follow a pattern, and have a good foundation of sewing basics.

What you need: A pattern and all the fabric/notions required to complete it, plus extra fabric (similar weight and drape to your good fabric but cheaper) for your muslin. All equipment is provided in the studio.

Note about the muslin: This will be an incomplete make up of your patttern that will be marked up, taken apart, and put back together. DO NOT expect to have a finished wearable garment from your muslin.

Fees: $155

"I took two “Finding Your Fit” classes and they were excellent. Jacquie is an extremely knowledgeable and friendly teacher. She teaches you how to take the patterns you want to make and adjust them for your body. I ended up with great fitting, stylish, clothes I made myself and the skills to adjust patterns to my body shape." Natasha Hanson

"I took the adult course on fitting patterns. I have not sewn for a number of years except for Halloween costumes and decided to tackle this course. The only courses I took prior to this was in middle school. Jacquie is amazing and has soo much knowledge to share. If you think it is too difficult; think again. I loved this course and have learned many new skills. My love for sewing has returned and I have a new confidence.
I would recommend this course for any adult who sews ." Jane Berry
